If someone told you that controlling mold caused allergies is pretty difficult, he was probably right. However, this doesn’t mean that it is impossible. First of all, I would like to show you several ways to do it, without wasting a lot of time, resources, nerves and most of all – money. Any allergy can be quite a headache for all those people that don’t want to spend some time for studying it and selecting the best natural ways to remove and maybe cure it once and for all. In order to be able to control your allergy, you need to read the basics listed in this post.

Your exposure to mold should be reduced
There is no way you will be able to stay away from mold allergies if you have any existing respiratory issues and continue to spend a lot of time in rooms and places that are infested with mold. Something like this is not possible. You have to either find solutions to get rid of the actual toxic mold in your house or you should stay away from it. Don’t expect miracles to happen. If you don’t take action and learn how to take care of such things on your own, mold won’t go away. So, this is my tip for you guys: reduce your exposure to mold spores as much as possible!

Decrease the humidity levels in your bathroom
As mentioned in almost every single articles previously published on this site, moisture and water are the main causes of the formation of various types of mold around and inside your house. That is why, if you are dealing with a pretty high humidity level somewhere in your bathroom, you should be intensively looking for ways to stop or reduce it as much as possible. Mold loves moisture so much that it will start to develop and to grow like crazy and such opportunities are being offered. It will expand more and more till you will either be required to hire professionals to take care of your problem or sell the house. I’m pretty serious about it, this is no joke!

Use sprays and solutions that can kill mold
When you are able to spot mold at its incipient forms, you should immediately seek fast and easy to implement ways to get rid of it as soon as possible. Every hour counts in, so if you don’t properly manage your time it can expand and make your bathroom or all the other rooms where it established its “headquarters” become totally dominated by the blackness of its kind. Using mold-killing solutions is one of the ways to remove it while it didn’t “grow big”. If talking about your bathroom, than you can spray the shower stalls, tiles and maybe even shower curtains. Places like “around the toilet tank and bathtub should also be cleaned whenever possible. Even if this might not sound like easy to do – it’s one of the main options that you have when fighting mold allergy and trying to keep it away both from you and your family. Think about it! Wouldn’t you disinfect your bathroom if this was the only way to make the toxic black mold die and not cause any stressful and health consuming symptoms?

When painting your walls, use paint that contains mold inhibitor
If you are moving to a newly purchased house you might want to take into consideration finishing the walls of your house (especially bathroom, basement, kitchen and all the other places where you’ll be dealing with water) yourself. Buy that paint that you like (color), but make sure it contains a very powerful mold inhibitor that won’t let mold even try to appear on any surface in the above mentioned rooms. While this might seem like a good joke, plenty of such products already exist in the home repair and improvement market so I don’t think that if you really want to find solutions to protect your walls you are going to have trouble because of the lack of any mold inhibitor substances. You should get it and add it to the standard paint when applying it on the walls of your bathroom!

Tiles or linoleum should be used instead of carpets
Carpets are usually made of organic material (any cloth is organic) and mold can easily start to grow somewhere around or even on it directly. This is the reason why you should install a beautiful colored tile and replace the actual carpets (if you have any). If tile is one of the home repair products that appears to be too expensive for you, try linoleum since it appears to be quite safe as well, but costs much less.

Chemical moist removal should be used
Do exactly as this subtitle says when dealing with moisture in places like closets, etc.

Avoid stocking wet clothing or footwear
There is a great probability that the partially wet clothing that you put aside can cause mold growing directly on them. So please, simply don’t!

Repair all possible water leaks
We’ve talked about this one hundred times already!

Use a dehumidifier to keep the humidity below 40%
This is one of the best things you can do to deter the mold growth in any spot around your house.

So this is what I would do in order to control my mold allergies. What do you think? Is there something listed that you do not agree with?
